Formula for Probability

What is the Spinner Tool?

The spinner tool is a digital version of a spinning wheel, commonly used for random selection, games, prizes, or decision-making. By entering your own set of options, the tool creates colourful segments on a wheel. When you spin it, one of the options is chosen at random. This makes it an engaging way to pick winners, assign tasks, or simply add some fun to a decision.

Why use a random spinner for fairness?

Spinners are popular because they offer fairness and excitement. Each spin is independent, meaning previous results do not influence future ones. This guarantees that all options always have the same chance of being selected. The randomness builds anticipation, while the visual spin creates engagement.

How to customise and spin the wheel

• Enter Options: Type each choice on a new line in the input box (e.g., Apple, Orange, Banana).
• Customise: Adjust the wheel size, spin duration, text size, and colour scheme to suit your needs.
• Advanced Settings: Add percentages, track spin history, enable sound, or show confetti for extra fun.
• Spin: Click the “Spin the Wheel” button or the wheel itself to start. The winner will display automatically.
• Reset: Use the reset button to return to default options at any time.

Everyday uses for random selection

• Decision Making: Ideal for choosing where to eat or which activity to do.
• Games & Contests: Pick random winners or prizes during events.
• Classrooms: Teachers can use it to select students or topics at random.
• Team Building: Assign roles or tasks fairly and with a fun twist.
• Entertainment: Make casual choices more exciting during parties or family nights.

How It Compares to Other Random Tools

The spinner works in a similar way to an online dice roller, random dice generator, or even a love compatibility test where outcomes are based on chance. Like a dice simulation, the spinner ensures equal probability, but adds a visual and interactive element that feels more engaging than simply rolling virtual dice or running a compatibility score.

Questions about spinner fairness and options

Q: Is the spinner fair?
A: Yes. Each option has the same chance of being chosen, calculated as 1 ÷ total options.

Q: Can I remove winners after they are selected?
A: Yes. You can check the “Remove winner from wheel” option to keep each spin unique.

Q: How many options can I add?
A: You can add up to 50 options, making it suitable for both small and large groups.

Q: Can I use it for serious decisions?
A: The tool is best for casual and entertainment purposes. For official or high-stakes decisions, certified random generators are recommended.

When to choose the spinner over other tools

Whether you are choosing a prize winner, deciding what film to watch, or running a classroom activity, the spinner tool provides a simple, fair, and entertaining way to make choices. It shares similarities with tools like the dice roller tool or a love match test, but stands out by combining randomness with excitement and visual flair.
